Nice looking car and reliable power.
You would want to knock a few quid off though.

Hello all,
Thanks for the reply to my visit in Chichester and the extremly dodgy dax!!!!
I'm going to look at the a couple of Tigers for sale at Hallmark sports cars in Essex tomorrow. The 2.1 pinto Yellow and green is a favouite and the dealer is keen to shift. Can i ask any one out there who Knows more than me on kit car values( probably every one) what they think of the speck and weather the car will be tractable in traffic etc in that state of engine tune.

Thanks

Will in Fareham

The cars are on Piston Heads

Will, ok each to their own therefore my comments or others are relevant as far as we see the car!
engine - nowt wrong with a tweaked pinto to 2.1, its a standard formula, so its not as though no one has ever done that before. It should be tractable - unless its had a really daft cam fitted. You're looking with a fairly heavy right foot at 20mpg ish.

right the car itself.
'individual seats' - bollocks, sorry but thats taking the mickey. Unless my eyes deceive me they're seat pads a couple of which i have in my garage and which are worth the sum total of sod all. If thats the case they will not be adjustable. A Cat has whats called a 'pigs ear' which necessitates a cut out on the outer bottom corners of replacement 'proper' seats. If you think you'll change those at anytime, then you're likely to be looking at a min of 200 for fibreglass seats or 300 for trimmed/cushioned seats ( intratrim etc)......

Cats as far as i know never came with those types of wings - so what they're off no idea......and it seems teh nearside one needs attention? cracked?

the car has been run without airfilters - many don't personally i have no idea why someone would build a decent engine and then suck tons of crap into it. 1 reason is sometimes that they cant actually fit decent air filters due to teh siting/position of teh trumpets....worth seeing what clearance there is?

ground clearance - if you get to teh point of being really interested.....have a look and check how much clearance there is under the bellhousing and also teh sump. if they have a lift and yr interested get it up in teyh air and check that the sump has been banged to buggery and that it has no obviosu weeps ( after a good thrashing around teh block!!). oh and check the petrol tank, is it looking rusty/shitty on teh outside?

check for obvious weeps to the rad - make them tilt the nose cone forward - shd be easy to do, swivel the lights each way and it shd come forward - dont listen to them saying its too much hassle. Whilst its up have a look at the inboard shocks and see if they look in good nick/nothing obvious.

rear shocks - are they adjustable? if they say they are - get them to show them being adjusted - cos often teh adjusters rust and a selling point becomes a negative. a standard non adjustable pair are only 70 as from a mini.

dash/interior looks fine, check all guages work as expected.and that all functions do as well wipers, horn you name it.

price, well subjective, my guesstimate is that it is way overpriced - but then its from a dealer and i guess there's always a premium to pay. if this was private i'd have hazarded a punt at no more than 5k - tops.

as i said at the start, we're all different but if i was buying that car i'd be budgeting for ( and these are the visible things)
seats 200-300
repair to wing ?
filters/hassle getting someone to make it right as i wouldntg be cutting the bonnet myself ( perhaps you would)
roll bar - as said before, that'll be as much use as a chocolate teapot
and prob a few others bits that i cant think of.

Will you're passing within 5 miles of me as u whizz round teh m25 - depending on teh time that you are passing i may be in if you wnat a coffee/chat/drive/look ......will def be in until 12 and poss a bit after that.....
( swanley junc of m25- brands hatch)mark
