Hello from portsmouth!

Postby tangodatbirth » Wed Feb 19, 2014 7:49 pm

Just a quick hello, just joined up. Looking at getting into owning a kit car and doing track days etc too. Just hope insurance isn't too painful for the 20year old in me

Welcome, should be a good time to get a bargain before the weather gets better! There's some good advice on buying a kit under the 'Useful Info' section of the forum and depending on your age, the car and the mileage you want to cover in a year fully comp can be had from £150 :)

Hi Shaun and welcome. Did I read it right you are 20 or was it a case of the 20 year old kid in you? Only reason I ask is for insurance quotes. If the former insurance will be a hassle if the latter.... welcome to the club :D

As Tony has said lots of advise and opportunities to ask questions, try out various passenger seats and get a good feel for what you are after.

What budget do you have?

Just make sure you don't let him fill in the insurance details, and you'll be fine

Welcome Shaun, do check out the topic that Tony C pointed out in his post on buying advice, and if you're still open minded about what to get (i.e. not got a preference on make, bike vs car engine, bike carbs vs throttle bodies, etc.), then again I'd echo the comments about blagging a passenger ride, or at least dropping in on an end of blatt brekkie to get a look at what people have. All types are pretty well represented across SKCC, and you'll get plenty of opinions and advice on here - whether you want it or not
