Hi from a newbie to kit cars

Postby paul.latham » Sat Jul 16, 2016 9:01 am

Hi all
After may cars I finaly bought a 2008 MK Indy with a Kawasaki ZZR 1200
It was a toss up between going for a V8 or a bike engine. Love the V8 sound but love the way the bike goes on and on and on, then the shift light comes on to remind you to change up quick.
Had tvr chimaera before and not missing the v8 sound as much as I thought I would.
Enjoying changing things and making it more like new. Painting out scratches to the interior where the seat belt hits the car and scratches it. Put in a kill switch and changed to an aero screen. Not great weather so don't have any after pictures at present. But here are some before pictures

Welcome to the club Paul

I couldn't see were you are, but keep an eye out for runs local to you

your car does look nice, but that car battery, and box :D is a bit overkill for a lawn mower engine

steve

Hi Paul and welcome to the club. An Indy in a GREAT choice! No I'm not bias..... obviously. I recognise that car from somewhere? Its that distinctive lean screen?? Where did you buy the car from?

It'll be good to see you out and about at some point.

Once again welcome.

Hi
I bought it from a guy called Ian in peters field.
Long story short. I asked about a car on eBay or was it pistonheads, anyway he said his car didn't have reverse so I decided it wasn't for me. On saying that he tells me his dad is probably going to sell his car, and it has reverse, shall I put you in touch? And the rest is history!
I am in Wiltshire so it was a bit of a long way home as it rained! Rain hurts!!! Still I have a nice new aero screen and a helmet so if it did rain then it's not going to hurt my face. Lol.

Hi Steve. It needs the car battery as it's got a starter motor as a reverse!
Doesn't take long to drain the battery if you are going backwards in control. Lol.

OH !!

I would of left the engine running (and charging) but perhaps that doesn't work well ?

Paul, word of advise. Get rid of those rubber bonnet catches as soon as possible! They are notorious for stretching and your bonnet exits stage left at speed. Ask me how I know!!

Thanks for the advice! I will defiantly change them in that case.
Is there another style that fits in the same holes?
