And the MOT was passed!! 
Who knew that the headlight switch was a two stage affair, I was ready for the failure due to non-functioning headlights and the delights of debugging the electrics. MOT man just sat in and turned the lights on by pressing the button again! Oh how we laughed...
Needed planks to clear the jacks over the pit and a run up the road with an accelerometer rather than the brake rollers, but all done now. The car is sat in the works car park as I type...
Hopefully I can figure out the fitting of the Polo rad on Monday, as the temp guage sits at about 95 degrees. A little high for my peace of mind.
