In my 2nd ever sprint I won my class with a time of 73.89sec. There were 7 cars in my class (Supercharged Exiges, Elise & Caterhams) and overall I was 2nd fastest (excluding the single seaters with wings & slicks)
Very happy :D :D :D :D :D

Be good to get more people out sprinting as it is great fun and cheap for a form of motorsport.

That was the layout we did in the afternoon at the £25 day. It was the same except the finish, that last cone you chuck a right at we had to stop next to. I unfortunately swapped cars with my mate so I did the MSA track in his MX5 4 times, only did the sighting laps in mine!!! (DOH! But I was determined to get the fastest MX5 time of the day. I failed. Most of the other MX5's I found out after had turbos.... ) The best time he did in my Phoenix was 1.15, but I rekon the track was 3 seconds shorter so around 1.18 give or take the stopwatch inaccuracies. So you were going at a fair pace!!! How much was the sprint to enter and how many runs did you get?? There is another LoT day there in October and I will probobly go again, but not with my mate this time.

Costs are
MSA license (£30 for a Speed National B)
MSA approved suit, gloves & helmet (not boots strangely). in date harnesses if you are using harnesses
Club membership (7Oaks & TWMC in my case) £20
NW Entry £50

We got 2 practise and 3 timed runs. The fastest time of the day was a 62.49secs from a Single Seat, slicks & wings car running a 1600cc Hayabusa Turbo.

Effectively the class system for sprinting is divided into road going and none-roadgoing and then sub divided into standard production & specialist. From there is is divided by engine size. My car fits in the Specialist Cars/Kit Cars over 1700cc which includes all kit cars & things like VX220, Elise, Exige etc. If you turned up with a 800BHP Ultima it would be in A6 with me  The road going class needs to show valid MoT, Tax and Insurance when signing on.

I was taking off 1sec a lap during the timed runs as I learn the the circuit so 75.85, 74.76, 73.82 to give 9th overall (out of 50 cars) and 1st in class. There was a Caterham R400 race car in a different class which was double driven by father and son, the dad did 74.03 & the son 71.34sec so with another few runs I would expect to be down in the 71-72 sec range.

I was beaten by 5 bike engined single seaters (mainly Jedis with 1000cc Fireblade engines), Sunbeam Lotus race car running very soft slicks, the son in the R400 (who was 4th overall), a 996 GT3 Cup car running R888 super softs & kevlar wheels (apparently £60K has been spent on this car to get it to this level...and it is in a road going class !) and finally a very modified Evo 8 on super soft R888s. Only two roadgoing cars beat me (the 996 Cup & the Evo) and both turned up on trailers with various sets of tyres. The point is that any of the faster kits on this forum would be able to run very competitive times and against all but the very serious bits of kit.
