He’s not doing too bad Colin, trying to teach him to use a few power tools without chopping his fingers off. He’s up on the roof on his own tomorrow, so needs to get the hang of cutting boards in situ with the rail saw and not missing the joists when he nails them on.

A few rough edges Duncan, just out of shot, nothing that can’t be trimmed up in situ. Hoping to pick up a cordless circular saw which will also fit on a rail this week, anything that makes the job easier.

Take great care Mike. I remember reading a great book on making blades and the first thing this American said was "Hand tools injure, power tools maim"

On call last night, video conferencing all day at work, thought I’d finish with a bit of graft. One roof decked out, one to go. Out of wood for the soffits etc, so might have to run the Wickes gauntlet, then work out how to get a 8x4 sheet home.

Got the new saw, used the plunge saw instead..

Have you thought about rainwater beef ? I’m sure you have but we normally hang the osb over by 50mm then screw batten through this to form part of the drip ready for the torch on, you can nail/screw straight on to what you have I just like a bit of extra strength, looks great though, I’ll pop a pic up of what I’ve been doing on weekends in lockdown

Thanks Rob, good point, awaiting some more ply to finish off the facia’s etc. Putting a rubber roof on which is supplied with appropriate trims. The higher roof will have upstands all round except the gutter side.. A batten will be fitted along the lower edge as part of the drip then a gutter trim fitted to that. Lower roof will be similar though the top edge will have a flashing trim fitted.

Hope that make sense Rob, not great with the terminology.

A little more progress, a few odd jobs done including trimming the tops of the centre posts.
