Anyone ever made a gas turbine out of a turbo

Now why would you want to do that? (Make a gas turbine, not click on virus ridden "lady links"). Gas turbine powered cars sound like a helium filled lilo going down. :shock:

The Royal Navy got lumbered with the engine out of the Rover Gas Turbine car as am emergency water pump. So when you where duty fire party and the officer of the day was bored we used to have to start the damn thing....pretty much like this

Amazing amount of work to start and then a great deal of noise and flame followed by large quantities of water.

filp me jeff wot a lot of mucking about ,looks like that thing would start a fire om it's own,by the time it's going the ship would have burnt :?

Yeap.....we used to pour AVGas into the intake to get it started quicker. Two blokes worked up a fair sweat starting the damn thing. Once running it kicked out a hell of a lot of water.

This is a hot start....was 10 times the amount of effort to start from stone cold.
