Postby kirmodawn1 » Sun Jul 08, 2012 7:32 pm

Found some great roads in the lake district that i didn't know existed - pity i was in the tin top but the weather forecast was crap even though it turned out to be 18 degrees and sunny.

Cockermouth to Keswick via Buttermere. Stunning mountain pass. Also A5091 and then A592 from Ullswater to Windermere via "The Struggle" which is a cracking very very steep road into Ambleside.

They look great, we're going to have a long list :)

One of my favourites in the Lakes is the main road to Keswick. A stretch is dual carraigeway where one direction follows a new route and the other is the old road with quite steep climbs, corners and drops. As it is now one way, if you get a clear run it is great fun.

Must be ten years since I've been, so I hope it hasn't been blighted by cameras.

It's good when you come across roads like that by accident. I didn't come across any cameras on the country roads but I didn't have the Tom Tom with me with the camera alerts on.
