Postby Green Indy » Mon Sep 19, 2016 8:10 am

I've been working abroad this week. Arrived at the airport, and was handed the keys to this beauty from Hertz...

Yes :) Cricket is over for another summer (for me anyway). Monza has a golf course attached, and I was working on the European Tour event. Germany this week on an event sponsored by Porsche, you never know I might be given a 911 (this won't happen :()

A few things worth mentioning - The Autodrome is in the middle of a residential area and they seem to have track events every day. Noise seems not to be a problem. Can you imagine what would happen here, it would have been shut down years ago by the nimbies.
The old track still exists, and it seems OK to wander around and explore. No yellow jacketed jobsworths spoiling the fun. I drove around a bit of it (as above).
The banking is just nuts! It's so steep that you can't really walk at the top without falling off! I had to reverse the car back, as it was too steep to turn around.

check out this youtube video of a race in 1955. Absolutely amazing, and way more exciting than these days.

I think the bit at 1.42 mins is where the pics above were.
