Medway Bridge Marina

Postby b33fy » Sat Oct 14, 2017 3:51 pm

Popped by the Marina a while ago and ok'd a photo visit with the owner, got a chance to pop along today with Mr G. Took the opportunity to partake in a full English from the on site café (thanks Mark)

Another difficult shoot, as it was more of a junkyard than Marina, interesting place though. my (poor)efforts below. Reverted back to type and HDR'd them. Apologies to purists.. its what I like I guess.

It certainly was a challenge Mike, have to say that i had expectations for rich pickings, but with the cars/vans strewn around and with many 'live aboards' it was bloody tricky to get anything close to passable.
Have just run the ones i liked past Mrs G and bless atleast she liked a few....

Took a few variations of the sign, another below, though it shows some glare on the lens.. need a hood/polarising filter.

From yours 1st one of second batch is great, didn't see that composition there.. and last one, great candid shot.

I know you both thought the marina offered slim pickings but the character you capture in the monochrome’s is good to see. How about trying some HDR and bump up the contrast to make them more stark to play to the run down feel of the surroundings?

Nice to see them guys. Thanks for sharing

tbh Neil, that was one of the reasons why i ended up with most of mine in BW....had another play with a few more, some just didn't have enough about them...these 2 just make the grade (imho).

Bumping the contrast and deepening the shadows like this gives a harder feel.
