That STM Blade car is Bon 8-) and at £7,7 is not bad. Having said that I'm not a lover of BEC's. Sorry Bryan :D

Tony the red one I have spoken with the owner and read the. Build diary. I got concerned when it said I raised the car by 30mm to ge wheel clearance and later on he says I wish I hadn't  I think this car has baggage. The current owner also told me the crank rear oil seal has a slight weep. However the price is about what I would be prepared to pay for one in better condition.

Don't worry Neil i am not a lover of BECs at the moment but my next door neighbour has a bike sounds just like my car and gives me goose bumps when he revs it up. If you had a bike engine in your car it would make your cheeks flap a bit and put a smile on your face.

We discussed this, briefly, and I think it has more to do with the tyres on your car and potentially the set-up of the suspension than if it is IRS or live axle. Speaking to Chris at BGH who drives a lot of Kit Cars of various types, he says he is relieved when the car he has to drive is a live axle because he knows the suspension set-up is pretty much spot on and isn't going to try and kill him, he is a lot more worried with IRS cars. IRS cars, when set-up perfectly. are slightly better than Live Axle but you can very easily have some scary traits built in by the suspension set-up which would account for your issues in Wales.

The Red ex-Bonnet car is very well built and very new really but is a older kit from Sylva. It has some idiosyncratic issues which will need to be resolved but overall it is a nice car which is very cheap for a recent Phoenix. £5K is pretty much bottom of the market for anything decent.

The STM BEC is a much later kit than the bonnet car and was made by Stuart Taylor Motosport rather than Sylva. You will notice the side intrusion bars and the full roll cage which is worth a lot of money. It is still a square tube chassis (later STM cars where round tube and meant to be better). The car is cheap at £7.5 but it is in Northen Ireland. Very much like Dan M's car except with a bike engine.

Having been in Jeffs "live axle" I'd say it has no problem with grip !
