OK, so search for wide GRP seats suitable for use with runners is proving more difficult than I first thought.

So as it is MY car and only one other person has driven it (his new Zero is currently being built following the last ones untimely demise) because his car died

Why not just have a set bolted down in the right position and be done with????

Thoughts please (I am a complete short bum and have the seat as far forward as it will go), so will the bracketry accomodate my stumpyness??

Cheers

I'd say you need to park yourself in some different seats to find out for sure for sure.

Agreed!!! If I can sneak away off our stand at Autosport hopefully there may be some there :)

Would still use the GBS bucket seats if they didn't keep wearing through

Lee - GBS/Kitspartdirect are one and the same......

seats to be used with runners
i don't understand why that's hard to find? or do you mean hard to find ones that dont need bracing? as for parking a seat in a fixed position.....depends whether you have any intention of anyone every driving your car, track day, bit of a swap over on a run out for a few miles etc etc. If you could be bothered you could improve a seat that's too flexy by 'glassing' a strip of metal up the back of the seat up to the headrest area and then painting. the reason i'd be uneasy about seats that have too much flex would be obviously in case of an accident when your body movement/inertia snaps the seat, or when folks climb in/out and put pressure on teh headrest part........as i say, could overcome that yourself if so inclined.

Kitpartsdirect aren't GBS they are Kit Spares!

Ian Rowley owns Kit Parts and I gave him my deposit for my Zero where he ripped me off, wouldn't use them (personal pref is all)

Problem so far has mostly been finding a seat with enough erm  Girth?

Thought JK Composites would be a good fit until a few here mentioned they really need bracing, GBS are looking to make a wider version of thiers which may be an option, having just opened the post and found a cheque from HMRC for over £300 though options are back open (don't tell the Wife)

I have the JK without any bracing, but it's against the rear bulkhead. I needed all the leg room I could get... Short people won't be able to drive the car now, but that means that 95% of Bris won't be able to steal my car... Give me a shout if you want a 'test sit'.

Decision made!!!!

Spoke to Jordan at JK Composites earlier, asked about additional bracing etc and my concerns about them flexing too much (no to mention having gone through two sets of seat in 2012).

Any way Jordan assured me that if I fit the seats into the base skins they supply and on runners the skins are designed to fully support the seat with no additional support.

Next step is to Cash Her Majesty's cheque, find another £50 and the seats are mine ;) (cue dastardly laugh)

Then complete odd jobs, engine and box back in, plug it all in, install seats, play!!
