Carbon Tube

I've just swapped the real, genuine carbon-fibre can for the air filter for a nice home made aluminium one, is the carbon one any use to anyone?
It's about 5" diameter, 7 or 8" long, would perhaps make a heat-shield for a catalytic converter or a starter motor?
I want nothing for it, it just seems a shame to throw it in the bin.
