Hi, is anyone any good at rebuilding engines? We have a spare mx5 1.8 mk2 one that we'd like help with to get the head off, new head gasket on, new water pump, timing belt and clean the valves up etc.
Engine is out of the car and sat on the front subframe at present.
This is something we'd like to learn to do just for the fun of it.
We currently have a MEV Exocet that's just about to go on the road.
Based Tenterden.
Cheers,
Richard

Most of which you mentioned is straight forward I'm sure you will find tutorials on YouTube to assist plus your trusty Haynes manual.

Welcome to SKCC
There are several people on here who have rebuilt engines (even I have rebuilt an old twin cam, but I would call myself an expert!), and Dick and Jay at Snodhurst garage can build you a very powerful tuned engine.
What you plan to do sounds reasonably straight forward as long as the engine was running OK before. Soon there should be some runs arranged and you can come along and meet people in your area.
