Interesting, do you think there will be an advantage going from twin 45s to bike carbs on your redtop. I could understand if you where going to throttle bodies but carbs?

Well I hope so, it seems a fairly common move.
Throttle bodies will add complications and expense with fuel pump and management I guess.

you could always get this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-2L-X ... _755wt_698
and ask someone on here if they can weld or get it welded somewhere if you cant do it yourself.
What bike carbs are you after? as most people have zx9/r1/cbr9??

I would be surprised if you saw any power or driveability improvements (assuming the 45mm carbs are set up correctly) by switching to bike carbs, quite the reverse. People who do this tend to do it for cost reasons as the 45mm Weber is expensive in comparison.

i changed my dellorto,s for bike carbs & added piper 280 cams
piper quote 22 extra bhp from these cams in a zetec,
so the rest must have been the bike carbs and a rolling road set up.
(car was r/r set up on the dellorto,s b4 i bought it )
bhp went up from 155 to 195 at the f/wheel
AND i got on average 9 mpg more!!!

this was on my previous tiger 2.0 zetec

Could also be a difference in rolling roads and the factor they use for flywheel figures. I have seen the same car on different dynos make 30BHP difference simply on the factors used. What was the difference in wheel HP?

Wheel hp can be amended by pumping up the tyres to 40 psi   .

SBD sell both carb kits and Throttle Bodies, they don't show any large max power gain between Carbs and Throttle Bodies but compared with carbs they get much better mid range. So if bike carbs are that good and cheaper than TB, why isn't everyone running them instead of tb :?: :?:

Any crank HP (unless on an engine dyno) is a figure created from wheel HP and either some random correction factor (15%) or the measure of run down losses (note not power loses in the transmission but loses when freewheeling which are not the same). Wheel HP is the only consistent way to measure HP on a wheel dyno (in fact is is wheel torque which is measure and wheel HP is calculated). The other factor is the gear the run was done in of course.

The rolling road I've used tey measure the coast down down losses and use that to calculate the crank HP.
