http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... 12/1816930Hi all,
a very nice example of a well built and sorted Zero. I know the guy who built the car very well and he spared no horses or ££££££££££££££££££
Must be one the best Sevens I have ever seen

I do think there is a spec level that if you go above doesn't add anything to the car other than making it pricey, a good example here is the engine @ £8k, does it really warrant a price premium over say a £4k lump 40bhp down. The other factor is although they were new parts when it was built, they are secondhand now like the rest of the cars on the market. He may be lucky and push through the price ceiling, after all it only takes one interested buyer. I wish him the best with the sale.

The car looks very well spec'd, and loads has been spent on it, but without wishing to offend GBS owners, for that money your into very good Westfield, and decent Caterham territory, which I suspect might hold their value better. Like these;

To be fair that's not a Robin Hood thing... I mean GBS thing... isn't it pretty much "anything that's not a Caterham or Westfield" for the majority?
I would assume that we all pretty much think that Zero on PH is priced out of the market despite it's spec. This isn't on a par but nonetheless a tidy looking motor, be interesting to see what it goes for:

Very true, note I didn't include Tiger in the brands that would hold their value better

Though like any kit car; GBS, Tiger, etc sold at the right price should hold its value fairly well too.....

i kinda think only Caterham and Westfield can demand prices based on spec, i think cars like GBS and Tiger etc have a ceiling price regardless of spec, that said a brand new turnkey GBS is now over £23k

You can never say with certainty that it won't sell for that as all you need is one person prepared to pay it. However having seen some of the design "features" that Tony has found through "extended testing" means for me that GBS aren't producing a product of the quality that would warrant a price tag that high.
I admire GBS's push to market their brand and they are always there at shows etc. but that doesn't make them a premium brand IMHO.
Having said all that I wish the guy well in selling at that price.
