Wanted: Cheap Gas

I'll explain. I recently bought a Mig welder (got a great deal, practically a steal. Don't tell the previous owner

) and now I'm in search of the required 'bottle of gas'. Being almost as tight as our good mr Tony B, any tips on how to best get this? Rent, buy, steal? Any companies near Horsham? Preferably kit-car-fitting- bottle...
Oh, and feel free to bring your cars in for some suspension or engine mount welding. Good practice for me. Welds guaranteed until they've cooled down.

I get mine from here...
http://www.jayar.co.uk/default.aspx?page=UD%21parkwood friends in the trade also use them as its more cost effective than renting a bottle or haveing a contract. downside is a deposit of £100, plus the cost of the gas which is approx £80, get deposit back when return bottle or renew gas for another £80. One bottle is enough to build a car. BTW Don't go near disposable bottles, won't last two minutes.

Cheers Mike, I'll check that out. Doesn't sound too bad, though. Even with the deposit...

Well, I just looked at the HobbyWeld stuff, and their deposit is 195, so suddenly 100 doesn't sound too bad. But you're right, now that it has sunk in it's way too much!

Use to do alot of mig welding at home. Use to get my gas from my local pub landlord. T he gas they use for your lager works just as well. Beer is better flat...j

We get ours from a fire extinguisher company called Standby fire protection in Sutton. We had to buy the bottle to start with but to refill it is about £20 (if I remember right it's been a while since we last filled it) it's about the same size as the brewery ones. We used to get it from a pub but the one by our yard closed down

I used Barnet Welding Supplies. They deliver but not sure about Horsham.
