Passat 2ltr Tdi se
Bought for the wife 4 weeks ago but she maintains its just too big so back up for sale.
Below is the advert I bought it from.
Not sure if anyone will be interested in this, but it's up on Pistonheads at a higher price, so I just thought I'd see....
£3,250
Much loved, reliable & comfortable family transport now for sale. Just not getting used since moving to a new area - boy now walks to school, train station 100m away, local shops within walking distance etc - so is only driving around 20 miles per week...and we can use Lisa's Leggie for that !!
History
This Passat was purchased new by the last owner in Sept 2005, an elderly gentleman, and covered 55,830 miles over the next 6 years. I purchased it in July 2011 and have covered a further 23k in the best part of 4 years. The Passat has had a cherished registration on it for most of my ownership, but this has now been removed and the original registration put back on. The current MOT printout still displays the cherished reg, but all DVLA electronic systems show the correct reg, so any tax/MOT search will confirm this.
Fuel Economy
Been tracking fuel economy on Fuelly since I purchased the Passat, and am pleased to confirm that the Official Combined stat is pretty much spot on @ 48mpg. It'll easily reach 60mpg on the motorway if you stick under the speed limit - 68mpg being the highest I've reached on a long run. Even on short hops, like when I was doing the school run, this car was averaging 44mpg. This makes an 800 mile range from the 70 litre tank quite achievable.

Real World Performance
The Direct Injection 2 litre diesel is a punchy motor, delivering a substantial wave of torque from anything above 1.5k revs. In fact, this car will pretty much drive anywhere in any gear above 1,000 revs, which makes for quite a lazy drive if you want. However, if you don't want, it can also shift! The power band is pretty useful, and makes for spirited driving if you so desire...especially overtaking on A roads.
I ran this car on Surrey Rolling Road just after I bought it, to check that everything was working as it should be. The result was an amazing 159 bhp and 282 FtLbs....all from a completely standard engine rated at 138bhp.
Audio Upgrades
The standard stereo is OK, but can easily be bettered. The Passat is a solid quiet car with good space in the doors, so it produces a nice amount of bass from the standard speakers without much effort.
I have upgraded to a better head unit that gives the following additional features:
DVD player
Digital TV
Sat Nav
USB connector, SD Card slot
iPhone connection, Aux Connection
Full Bluetooth Handsfree Car kit.
Other Upgrades
I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, so a few tweaks have been added to this Passat to create a better user experience:
Reversing Camera - stereo screen switches automatically
Boot interior LED light strip – the standard boot light is well known to be pretty feeble
Upgraded dip/full headlight bulbs (note: not aftermarket HIDs)
Superbright side light bulbs to match – all legal and approved.
Cosmetic
The paintwork is rust free, smooth, dink free (famous last words), and generally in an excellent condition. It has been cared for using the Blackfire Polish system, and is currently sporting at least 2 coats of Blackfire Carnuba Wax to protect the paint. There are a few stone chips here and there, but nothing that detracts. This is nearly a 10 year-old car of course.
The alloys are relatively gash free - may have a small nick or two from memory - but do have a little 'sparkle' on a couple when bright sun shines directly on them, which may indicate that they may have been refurbed before my ownership. Again, nothing that detracts.
There is a small chip on the windscreen that has been there for several years without getting worse, and this is noted on the last few MOTs.
The interior is clean, the seats are firm, and the dash quality is all fine. The driver's door handle does have some typical VW surface wear, but this is to be expected in my opinion. The majority of VWs of this age or older will have it substantially worse...some will be ghastly ! I can provide extra pics if required, but it's really quite minor.
Servicing
This Passat is run on the "LongLife"schedule, meaning that a different grade of oil etc is put in, and you wait for the service indicator to go off before booking it in. I can confirm that the service book is stamped up, and I have all the receipts for the previous owner too.
In addition, the engine gets a bottle of injector cleaner once a year (STP) regardless.

MOT Due: 6th August 2015
I don't know whether there was just a new person at my local MOT station the last time I went, or whether they were just in a really anal mood, but regardless, they were in a 'cover their ass' mood for sure ! I even remembered to removed my mobile phone holder, otherwise there would have been another one !!
Needless to say, I've had the relevant advisories checked out for seriousness, and they aren't in the slightest. Jobsworth.
Advisories:
001: Windscreen has damage to an area less than a 40mm circle outside zone 'A'
002: (both rear) coil springs corroded
003: Under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components
004: Engine Covers fitted obscuring some components in the engine bay
005: nearside front brake backing plate slightly corroded
Further Info
As you will have read, I don't do many miles currently in this car, and haven't for quite a while. Consequently the battery doesn't really get charged from driving, and hasn't done for at least 6 months, so it tends to run out of juice in the current cold weather if I don't give it a top-up via a trickle charger at the weekend. I suspect this is just down to the lack of use, as it's not drawing any significant current when it's parked up. If I drove it as much as most people do it'll be fine I'm sure, but I just thought I would mention it.
Did I mention the boot space is H-U-G-E ! Before I found this Passat I was looking for an estate of some kind, but as soon as I saw this one I put that silly notion aside. You could fit a couple of people in there if that's your bag. The rear seats fold down (60/40), and the middle arm rest opens separately, and is lockable.
Full size spare wheel - looks unused. Original Jack, wheel bar, & locking wheel nut.
2 Keys fobs
Tyres are all easily legal with good tread all round, along with even wear. I have replaced the fronts once during my ownership, and that was because they were only just legal when I bought it. The rears on the Passat hardly get any wear.
Any further questions just ask.
