OK It's arrived. the 2013 SKCC Photo Competition.
few quick things.
Keep the posts on track please, some banter and fun is the order of the day but not to the point where we lose sight of the aim!
The idea is that during this year you can take pics to fill out as many of the categories as you want to, each of course being the result of you being out and about in your 'kit'. Although each category has a subject a little lateral thinking might be called for. You can make as many submissions per category as you like and you don't have to complete all 14 to 'win' - i'll explain that in a moment. So don't think that you'll never do the lot so you won't bother entering - have a go and show us what you've got.
Yes we'd like photos that are good quality - but that doesn't mean super expensive cameras and lenses. No, we want to see some fun, some creativity. The Committee will select a shortlist of photos and members will vote for their fav 12, the piccie that attractys most votes will be the overall winner - and that member will receive a prize - last year Tony B was awarded a set of Tac3 glasses courtesy of ukeyewear. Those 'winning' pics will be considered and the best will form the main part of a 2014 calendar.
HOW TO......
this year ALL photos submitted MUST be hosted on the SKCC photobucket account - in the relevant 2013 Photo Comp folder, and each must be resized to 640/480.
The username/password is: southernkitcarclub pword = skccpics
once logged in you will see a toolbar, on there there is ALBUMS - click onto that and use teh drop down box to navigate to the 2013 photo comp....open it. Once opened you can now upload your piccie....(it tells you how).
I suggest resizing the photo 1st on your pc before uploading, BUT if not......once the photo is on p/bucket if you put your mouse along the top edge of any full sized photo - there's a drop down box option to resize.....but if you are uploading a few at a time then quicker to do on your pc.
on the right side of the page you'll see a box with 4 'codes' in it - just place teh mouse over the one that says IMG - this in effect copies the code ( without you needing to do a thing ).....now just 'paste' that code into the selected thread on this Comp Forum......you need do nothing else, it really is that simple.
Preview your post to check that the pic shows and voila, Bobs your proverbial.

Re: Roll Up Roll Up.
Good work last year my entries were slightly lacking in numbers compared to the previous, but I hope to make amends, dust off the camera and submit one or two snaps for you I have a few ideas already

Re: Roll Up Roll Up.
Why is there no 'cars in bits' category? We could start filling that one up immediately...

Re: Roll Up Roll Up.
So a number of people have uploaded their photos recently to the Photobucket account, but then pasted a link to the URL for the photo into their post, which means we can see them if we follow the link, but they don't appear in the post. You can do it so that they show in your post. Here's how.
1. Upload your photo to Photobucket (I'm assuming you know how to do that, as they are obviously getting there at the moment).
2. View your uploaded photo in Photobucket, and look for the box called Image Links over to the right hand side of the screen. Find the one that's labelled "IMG code". This example shows a lot of links, but you may have fewer. Doesn't matter, as long as you find "IMG Code". Then, click in that box, directly on the text that starts [IMG]http:/...., etc:
As soon as you've done this, you should see the text momentarily replaced with "Copied", and the box will turn yellow:
3. Start typing your post on the forum. When you get to the place where you want your photo to appear, then "right click" on your mouse (seems obvious if you know, but if you don't, that means press the mouse button on the right hand side, the one you probably don't use so much), and a menu of options will appear. Click (that's "normal", left click) on Paste.
OR
Press Ctrl + v (hold down the Ctrl key and the v key at the same time), and this will have the same effect. This is the shortcut for "Paste", in case you didn't know.
4. Something like this will have appeared in your post:
If you want to type more text underneath your photo, then just carry on typing.
If you want to add another photo, go back to Photobucket, find the uploaded photo, and do it all again.
(Tip: have Photobucket open in a different tab in your browser whilst you are writing your post if you want to include multiple photos, you can then just switch between the two as needed).
Finally, it's a good idea to check what your post, with photos, looks like before you click on Submit. To do that, just click on Preview first, and the code(s) you pasted in will appear as photos instead. When you're happy, you should still be able to see the Submit button underneath your preview, just go ahead and click it.

Re: Roll Up Roll Up.
Thanks Linda. I would be quicker (and clearly more successful ) taking either of 2 options:
1. Give to Matt (son) and let him do it. In reality, his pics are always better than mine OR:
2. Get in the Tiger, drive to yours and let you do it

Re: Roll Up Roll Up.
Funnily enough I have someone else who frequently goes for Option 2 for lots of things. He has the added advantage of reducing the travelling time as he's already on-site....

Guilty - will copy across over the weekend.
Will you not need the full version for the calendar?

Re: Roll Up Roll Up.
@ Pete - yes we will, but if we're trying to look at 100+ photos we need to be able to share them between the judges easily so that we select the finalalist, that's not really possible when some of the pics are attachments, or are hosted on another site....what we do is to download the whole Comp folder to our pc's and then trawl through to get an individual shortlist, then we negotiate to get the number down to x.
