I don't know if this was gonna be a kitcar thing but maybe I will consider taking the tintop and filling it up with people to keep costs down?

mm don't think i can squeeze LM in next year, although very tempted.
in the past when i've arranged it we've done the gentlemans camping, which means that we've only ever had private secure trackside with electric. Downside is taking a transit to ferry all the gear, upside is not having to sod around with shopping for beer/ice/food.....that was weds-monday, with all the bbq stuff/brekkie stuff, crates of whatever plus freezers for food/beer.
all inclusive of everything bar trackside beers it used to cost £500pp, and i used to allow another 300 for the helicopter ride and offsite beers etc.
Obviously the sites with power/secure are rare and costly, and the marquee took extra space - but when its phishing down its handy to have a proper area to sit in, similarly we used to pay to go to the ACO compound by Dunlop bridge - and that was included in those figures.

my priority is another EU trip which will be last bank hol in May, and i don't think i can sensibly be back for 3 weeks before sneaking off again. and to be frank the last place in the world i'd want to drive my kit to would be LM24; i aim to get there as fast as poss and park up for 5 days.....

will watch with interest - in case my situ changes....

Bumped into Continental Car Tours at Goodwood, they are going to send on some options and prices based on this years event. Currently a couple of options seem to be emerging..

The gentlemans camping option (approx £500 all in) or the armageddon option (approx £250 all in) in the unsecure campsites, big variation in cost, I'm probably getting to old and fat for the later option. I'll get some costings up once they become available. Any other thoughts most welcome

2015 is out for James and I,.  just checked the provisional A level exam dates for 2015, James has a maths exam on the friday, then another on the monday. Anyone still thinking of going, the pistonheads secure campsite doesn't get good feedback on the pistonhead forum, scanky food.. Some are booking the speedchills secure package instead.

Grandstands are readily available for between £70-£130, for a seat on the start finish straight opposite the pits, with a big screen to watch. (Hell of a lot cheaper than an F1 meet...)

So plan B...we'll probably head to Silverstone for the 6 hour race, earlier in the year and possibly hoon across to Spa for the 24hr race (GT cars) which I believe is after the exams . If anyone wants to join us, they are most welcome. :)

Ive done LM only once, 3 years ago, and would like to go again, next year is a possibility
we did our trip courtesy of "Wilkies tours" Chris Wilkie, who owns/runs the Locostbuilders site

we stayed in Houx, from thurs to Mon and worked out at about £300 each and that included fuel

Personly I would go in the tin top, just for comfort, plus as we took a LARGE tent that filled the boot on the Jag XK8 that I drove, that averaged 27mpg there and back, not bad for a big V8
