Another fantastic days driving but both cars are riddled with electrical gremlins
Mine - I have no lights but my main beam indicator is on permanently and I have wired the sides to a switched live so that they are on all the time (needed for the odd tunnels). The Dash 2 is permanently warning me of everything mostly though that the fuel levels are to high because it’s reading a tank and a half!! . And whatever has happened has fried my iPhone charging lead and my headset was also crackly this morning
Kenton - new coil, the fan supply wire has melted so we have had to run a temporary wire. One fried relay (£45) . All the nylon ties along the engine chassis have melted and the loom is dangling. High beam headlights stuck on permanently
However, that said today’s weather has been perfect, we did the Umbrail and Stelvio around 11.30 with basically zero traffic and we’ve just finished the fantastic paso pardoi where we did some dronage last year
Can’t believe we only have 3 days left!!!

Superb photos, and it sounds like you're being lucky with some nice clear roads.
Hope you can keep the electrical gremlins at bay (or at least manage them) and keep pounding those passes!

Another cracking day.
A bit of traffic mid day between mountains but that was more than made up by the best ever up the umbrail and the second best stelvio. So little traffic we could really press on. At the campsite with a beer on the porch of the cabin.
A few issues with the car. My headlights came on and wouldn't turn off so i pulled the fuse. Its been a little hot under the bonnet. Hot enounh to melt cable ties. Luckily the loom is in silicone sleeve or there would be nothing left.

Tonights dinner. Under 10 euro. This trip is sticking to a budget unlike when Rob makes us have steak every night

Good effort guys, wouldn't be a mega tour without a few technical issues. Strange that you've both got electrical issues, I mean at least 1 car has never seen Tony's screwdriver!! Do you think they've been caused by the heat?
Enjoying the pics, and rebuilding my car. Have fun for the rest of the trip.

10 out of 10 for determination to carry on! At least the roads have been clear, and your photos are excellent

Couple of dikc heads
Add a few more people and you want to eat the menu , just the two of you and you budget, twats
Glad your having a blast, I’m not surprised the problems you’ve had seeing how hot you’ve had it , mind you don’t really push it so guess a little surprised the water bottles melted
Maybe when I get some time I’ll give you both some tuition
Fingers crossed for the rest of the trip

Loving the content chaps. The heat is really taking its toll and hardly surprising. This global warming may require us to rethink our future upgrades?

It is odd that the electrics have fried in both cars. Are the temperatures really still that high and/or were the under bonnet temps that marginal that a few hot runs have friend the electrics. I would have though these would have come to light before as you’ve done Alps trips etc before?
It will be interesting to hear just how bad the damage is when you’re back home and can assess the situation properly. Hopefully it won’t be too long before you’re back up and running.
Good luck with the last few days chaps. There’s always the AA on the way home.
