Sunday 4th - Derbyshire megablat

Postby AdamW » Fri Aug 27, 2010 10:44 pm

**EDIT: TITLE SHOULD SAY SATURDAY 4TH*** (Any chance you could change that, Mark?)

Now that the Lydden track day has fallen by the wayside and some have mentioned doing a full day's blat to compensate... how about this?

I'm joining the East Anglian Tiger Owners Club on a run to the Derbyshire dales on September 4th (it's not just Tigers - all makes welcome). It's an early one with a rendezvous at Peterborough Services at 8am, followed by a trot out to the Winnats Pass in Derbyshire. This is supposed to be better than the famous nearby Cat and Fiddle (particularly as that road now has SPECS on it).

Anyone want to join in? It'll be a boring motorway run to get to Peterborough on time, but from there on there will some great new roads to explore. If anyone else wants to come, we could organise a meet at Thurrock Services to travel up together.

Anyone in?

tempting but even if Lydden was still on the cards I would need to get back by 6.30ish and I doubt that will happen on this one - will probably turn this one down (think it needs a weekend)

Well, that was an early start! Out the door at 5.30, fog most of the way to Peterborough and then some excellent roads around Derbyshire. About 15 cars in total and a local leading the way, so we could find the non-biker (and therefore less policed) routes. There are some cracking roads in the Dales.

The idea has been mooted that next year the run will include a night camping followed by a run further north into the Lake District. We should try to get an SKCC contingent to join in with the EATOC bods...

Nice one Adam, but rules are rules....a thread is worthless without pics......
would be up for the Dales, happy to join up or better meet up with the EATOC en-route, personally the Lakes wouldnt float my boat, from what i hear far too many grockles of a weekend.

Be better to break it up a bit.

I did the Cat and Fiddle and back in a day a couple of times last year. Last weekend, I went over to Ancaster after Derbyshire to throw my tent up, and did a sprint at Barkston on the Sunday.
