not a lot fresh to add but as has been said;
transfer across countries is not instant, the new process CAN be faster, but typically when i'm paying guys overseas i reckon on it taking 3 days. Sometimes its a day less but no guarantees how long it will take.
ideal would be if he's willing to overnight/over weekend and get it sorted Monday, either in cash sterling ( with bank checking the notes) or Euro ( again checking)....if you end up with doing a euro 'deal', then it's common to a/ pay around 1-2% to pay it in, and the fx rate will be marginally better than you'd see advertised in any high street outlet, but around 3 points off what you'll see online. so if you look at a xe.com and it says 1.1855 you'll be more likely to get 1.255.
if you get stuck, you can always get it transfered into my Euro account and transfer it back in sterling (i have a commercial facility direct with the dealers at our company bank).
otherwise i wouldnt have any qualms selling overseas...did it with my 1st kit.
Good luck!!

Re: Selling into Europe
Kenton most personal U.K. Accounts have a limit of £10k per day. Not sure what it would be on the continent.
When we send money orrreceive it from most EU countries using priority payment (wire) for work it take less than 2 hours to show. It often updates the balance before the transaction shows. The other issue is that you may not know how they have transferred to money. For example if we use IACH (International Automatic Clearing House) we can recall the funds up to 3 days later and, in this instance, your bank will return the funds! The only way to avoid this is to transfer it out of your account and reduce your available balance to well below the transfer amount.
If it were me I would get cash and bank it before the car goes. I would also take a copy of his passport and a utility bill so you can prove you have not money laundered.

Turning up at a Bank these days with large amounts of cash will result in a number of questions relating to money laundering as Paul as said.

Re: Selling into Europe
I sold my car to a dutch guy and he paid me directly into my bank account in pounds. All i had to do was give him my iban and account number and the transfer was almost instant.
