I am in the process of buying a car...not new......i have been asked by the dealer if i want aa 5 star warrantry.....cost £400 a year.plus a extra £44.00 as its a 4x4.......seems alot to me and i do hear horror stories about warrantrys....has anyone had dealings with this.....thanks martin

If u r going to keep it..
Try warranty direct for a price...I use them and on the 2 occasions I have claimed they paid out no prob.
Also they cover all but consumables.

Remember, the dealer has to provide some warranty (?3 months?) By law, so in a way he's asking you to pay to cover his risk.

I agree with Graham, better to buy direct yourself from a known quantity and have a good chance to read the small print at your leisure.

I deal alot with all sorts of warrenty companies through work on behalf of my customers some are a total waste of money some are worse but the only imo is the aa waranties are the only way foward. Ive never had them decline a claim. The only down side is the car has to be recoverd in before you activate a claim. But as i say they are well worth the money.

Pay your money take your choice. The aa will be cheaper than 400quid aswell
