Well as some of you know i have moved over from the rover ECU and installed the Emerald K3 ECU, together with some Piper verniers to get the correct timimg, the rest of the engine is in standard trim. Now the Superlight R was supposed to leave the factory with 190bhp, 140ftlb.
Now my seven is approaching 25000 miles, imagine my shock on the first run as the 7 pumped out 154bhp the guys at emerald said dont worry that was just the first run now we need to map the car, i left last night with a healthy 194bhp 148ftlb @ 7544 i am very happy indeed and now going to leave the engine alone! maybe some hotter cams
Just to let you know what a decent mapping session can do, i left my home with half a tank of fuel, "35L capacity" picked up my mate in medway then off up the A2,m25,m11,a11 to Norfolk, i had to stop at stansted services to fill up and then made it to emerald with just under 3/4 a tank again. total distand 135 miles!!!! nearly a tank of juice for 135 miles at 70mph
After the mapping had ended i had just under half a tank of juice left, from watton to the a11 it was spirited then to my utter surprise, i made it to my mates house and nearly home now that is one massive improvment in my eyes and worth every penny!

Re: A Day at Emerald "Mapping Session"
where do i start....
The low down drivability is like im driving a different car no more juddering. There is no more lagg as such, it used to be like slowish acceleration up to 5k then go mad, now its just constant smooth power all the way through.
How this has happened or i was just deaf from the RR, but the engine noise seems to be alot less on acceleration.
and overall it just feels even bloody faster!!!!!

Re: A Day at Emerald "Mapping Session"
Dan,
not sure if your aware but the Emerald can hold 3 maps, all can be live switched as your driving, while on the rollers i had to have this option so i now have a dash switch to install..
1- Propper Map, full power blat map
2- Pop bang map, timing and lack of fuel belwo a certain rpm = flames and bangs haha
3- Motorway map, between 60-80 i have had the ecu adjusted so that fuel consumption will be about 40mpg, it will have sod all power but who needs it for those long drives down to leman over to france ect
cant wait for a night run to try the bang map

Re: A Day at Emerald "Mapping Session"
I think I must have only the bang map then!
I'm currently wiring up a combined shift light and map switch. I can run two different maps on mine. It will be interesting to see how much actual difference there will be between the two maps I currently have.
