I thought we where talking V6? The 1UZ always seemed the best bang for buck in a MX-5 with the Supra box.

Saw one in the flesh at the Bagshot breakfast meet and it looked like a nice job. The one that I saw was not a new all singing and dancing new engine but it still sounded the business :)
MkII Marlin Roadster with Ford 2.0L Pinto and Type 9 gearbox. Going for the oily rag restoration look :-)

Went off piste Jeff :D Agree, a cheap way of half decent power.. 1UZ lumps easy to source, though supra boxes rare as rocking horse poo
