When I bought mine ,the price seemed to be cheaper than going rate,as it were. The car had been on piston heads for about a month. I was looking around the car I noticed lots of fresh gasket sealer around the sump,he said spent lots of time trying to stop oil leaks, which I believed,as I had owned a Cosworth years ago.
I asked a while later after a bit of oh and ar'ing, was he aware of anything wrong with the car,to which he replied ,does not like sitting in traffic.so I just assumed the engine starts getting warm,as again I new this could be the case due to the small rad which was in it.Anyway I bought the car.A few weeks past and one fine day was sitting in traffic. The tappets started rattling really bad, sounded like they were going dry.when I arrived home I removed the sump(well maybe not that night),to look at the oil pump.all looked fine.took the pump and strainer pipe indoors to clean, when I noticed the pipe to the strainer was damaged and would have been sucking in air, only a very small amount, but just enough over a period of 10 minutes or so,was enough to drop the oil pressure down and lose pressure on the head.put all back together and was fine.but a few months later the real damage came to light.the dreaded big ends.
Along came a full rebuild.
Which cost me half of the price of the car.

I paid £9k for mine 3 years ago and probobly now it is realistically worth £7-8k?? But I wouldnt sell it as there is nothing this side of £20k that interests me to comfortably better it, so to me its irrelevant!!!
