I agree with Mark and also Neil...
Its all dependant on the actual car your looking at.
But also what you can actually afford. Not much point in saying thats the best just cos it costs the most.

difficult one really, its easy to say the ones you dont like....but I'll keep that to myself

My mate is using Honda engine and 6 speed gearbox coupled to a Sierra rear diff. Got the engine, gearbox, loom and all ancillaries for £2K. 240bhp, bombproof.

Lee, it was your prompt that got me looking at this. Have had a very useful thread and U2U conversation with Chris Mason on LCB who put an S2000 engine, box and diff in his MK a couple of years ago. He rates it very highly but it isn't a clean install. Chassis mods and its a tight fit.
I really like the idea of the S2000 and 6 speed in my MK but in reality is it's going to cost twice as much as a crate Zetec with all the Raceline goodies and the latest Emerald ECU and I can't justify that cost or the time to mod it.
