Well, first update, the engine is out and the sump and flywheel removed, looks like the sump took a bit of a beating but the split itself isnt that bad now I can see it cleaned up, a short weld will fix it.

The gearbox is also out again and the 5th gear plate cover has a slight weep which will be easily fixed with a made up gasket and some sealant.

Bit more worrying is the exhaust, I really should have made a mid mount a long time ago and theres a pretty serious crack where the feedpipe goes into the exhaust, Im just hoping it can be welded or its new exhaust time !!

Massive list of things to do yet, tomorrow I'll start cleaning up the chassis in the engine bay and rearrange a few things, will also try and make up some sort of a sump guard

Doe anyone know a good place to get cheap ally sheets?, ones I can use to fabricate things?, need some big sheets?

I thought you had the sheets two weeks ago.
If a steel sump was modified would this be more resistant to splitting.
Is my template safe.

template has a few more oily fingerprints on it !!

good question, i guess the raceline sump is made of ally because itls lighter, looks better and easier to work with but doe tend to break under impact wheras a steel one will probably just bend.
