So I'm confused, easy I know :D

Everywhere source I can find on the old interweb thingy would suggest that the Type 9 should hold 1.9l of gear oil. Now I filled mine up while it was out of the car with 1.9l of oil, having done a few short trips I thought I would check it so I jacked up the front of the car and removed the level plug and oil gushed (and when I say gushed I mean gushed) out which would indicate that it's over full... but why???

Why jack up the front to check the level :?:

With the level plug being at the front of the gearbox it should result in overfilling if filled at that angle, I was expecting to have to jack it up to level to get any oil dripping out...

I've had that with both the diff and the gearbox. Fill it up so that it just drips out the fill hole. Check after a run and it pours out. Put it down to expansion and reduced viscosity after heating.

Good thought, I'll check it when it's cold on Friday.
