Personally I don't see why I can't put a 7 on a 7 esque car. I built my car from scratch therefore I can put whatever I damn well like on it. It's a free country. Infact it's called a Locost 7.

I certainly wouldnt spend 18k on any vehicle, their all extremely fun to drive, 3k or 18k. It goes the same whatever I costs.

Bold statement and completly incorrect and unfactual!, your heavy locost7 with it's heavy ass engine will never go like a caterham or any other marque thats why their are so many different models.... if i paid 5k for a second hand 7 with a 1.6 in, then 18k for a second hand vhpd 1.8k series 7 they are going to go COMPLETLY different if they didnt then bloody hell why they hell is one worth 18k??!!!!! The only kit on the market that can offer any real rival to the 7 build quality and engineering advances are the westfield when put together by somone who cares about the little things. Some westys commend very respectable money and for damn good reasons too because the ALL carbon fibre chassis was a massive engineering feat UNLIKE anything ever built.....

If they all went the same then there would be no market... OH and it's not a free country far from it! infact it's costs alot of money to live here :) personally i dont care what you do with your Kit, my point was calling it something it isnt... ttfn x

Spoken like a true caterham snob lol

They are as heavy or as light as you want to build them.

I dont call it a caterham 7 i call it a locost 7 which is exactly what it is. It's even got a Locost badge on the back. 7 is the shape not the make.

On the road, where you are constrained by speed limits, uneven roads, other people. 18k or 3k doesnt make a great deal of difference.

If i was going to race or run on the track all the time the car would be a very different thing.

F*ck me I'm glad my car's a 6!

For what it's worth my views are:

1. I think it's ok to call any sevenesque car a 7 - on the basis that they are all supposed to be based on the Lotus 7 shape (mine is however a 6!)
2. Personally I think the Caterham is head and shoulders above most others - I'd have one tomorrow. That's the reason James is quick!

Beyond that, Ben that was a heroic LOL ;)
