Re: For the record....
Massive thank you to all of you, I'm starting to get some movement back in the shoulder and neck so fingers crossed thats the worst over and done with. As we all know we tend to get attached to our cars and I am gutted that this has happened and not knowing the answer to the question 'why it happened' doesn't help. I walked into the garage yesterday to get something and reality struck that she really has gone which left a lump in the throat
Moving forward the insurers basically asked me if I wanted the car to be repaired because none of their recommended garages would be able to undertake work on such a car, the fact that the chassis is bent in several places (from what little I saw) enabled me to answer that question very easily so hopefully the rest of the process should be fairly straight forward (he says).
The other gutting part of it is that I am booked onto the Germany trip
Thanks also for the 'lightning the mood' comments, some of you know my sense of humour too well.
As so many of you have kindly offered to help in any way you can we'll be holding a gathering in Stoke Poges on Sunday where the following jobs need doing-
Front & Back grass needs cutting
Weed the shrub & flower beds
Paint the shed
Clean all the windows (inside & out)
Clean the Mrs' car (not for the faint hearted)
Take the dog out
Number 2 son needs taking to football
If you feel there isn't enough to keep you all busy then I'm sure we can find other projects.

Re: For the record....
Phil,
Didn't expect to see this news when I 'logged on' this evening but good to know that the cabin area held up and that you walked away. Glad to hear that you are getting some movement back in the stiff areas around your neck & shoulders and good to see that you have kept your sense of humour.
I had a moment like that a few years ago & could only put it down to the offside rear wheel spinning up on the white lines as I pulled out to overtake, luckily at lower than motorway speeds and I managed to gather it up before getting too close to the ditch on the opposite side of the road!
Take it easy.

Phil get that plate transferred off the car, if you haven't already, before its "written off" otherwise it ends up belonging to the insurance company and you may have a struggle on your hands to get it back

Re: For the record....
It's well none that 7's are nose light at speed and even lighter when exsellarating so add a wet road and possibly some oil would suggest to me you had no feeling of what was happening Nothing you could have done would have made a difference because there's no grip but we have all had the odd miss hap
but not with that result
sorry to see the car in that state it's a shame but there will always be another breakfast
