Re: Viento Project
Just caught up with this thread, sorry to hear of your troubles Mike. Out of interest, what front cover does the 4.6 use? I may be interested in buying some of bits from you.

Hi Kenton, no worries mate, goes with the territory. She gonna fly with the new engine..
The oil pump is totally different on the 4.6, driven direct off the crank, so no good to you.
New mount for crank sensor done, pulley needs cleaning up and a bit of paint

New coil pack mount made and fitted

Overall view of new engine in situ, looks much the same as the last one, though hopefully will run better.

The 3.9 oil pump arrangement won't quite clear the chassis so need to pull apart the old oil pump and see what mess is inside and sort it out.

Be interesting to see how yours compares to mine when/if you get it mapped as I have a very mild cam.
I'm still using the 3.5 front cover with the oil pump driven off the cam shaft.
What coil packs are those? not the usual ford ones.

You are welcome to the front cover if it's any good to you, can't vouch for the condition, personally I wouldn't use it, as the oil pressure isn't good. The heads, pistons (brand new) and ARP conrod bolts are the only things I would bother with from the engine.
Not expecting anymore than around 210/215bhp if everything is perfect. The coil packs are VW jobbies which have their own built in igniters rather than the separate EDIS system of the fords which most seem to use. They work rather well and kick out a hefty spark.

Re: Viento Projectz
Left to do.. Fit up the oil pump and cover plate, bleed the clutch and hopefully fire it up. Some issues with the relief valve, sticking half open, doesn't really explain the symptoms, as it was sticking closed on start up. Like a baby's rattle now,, without the spring fitted..

Re: Viento Project
Thanks Duncan, the oil pressure still proved a little elusive, sorted today, caused by the mocal take off plate which is now in the bin. Oil pressure solid at 30psi tickover, 60psi at 3000+rpm with engine hot. the relief valve cuts in now as it should keeping the oil pressure to 60psi.
Took it for a quick spin, very smooth, doesn't vibrate like the last one so I can see where I'm going over 60mph lol, lost a lambda and still no electricity, who cares.. the oil pressure is finally sorted lol.
