Yes it is a big relief to get it running I now know that the wiring is correct and I can complete the taping of the loom and it should work whe nit is all re installed.
I will get a sump guard mocked up whilst engine is in, wire up the tacko to the ECU to test that as well, then crack on.

Rich, just had a proper catch up on your thread, AWESOME mate! Be careful where you house the standalone 221. I was getting one from one of their major suppliers and tuners, they advised me that the 221 standalone isn't ruggedised and hardly even splashproof and is ok in the interior of a tintop but not in an open kit car. Their 4 series is now properly ruggedised to Mil Std. The MX5 221 P&P (that theyre famous for) is fine as it uses the OEM casing and seals.
Cheers

Cheers hammy (glad someone is ), it under the dashboard so should be okay, but with that in mind I wonder if some small rubber bobbins to mount it with and a decent sandwich bag would be a good idea.

Sounds good mate, story is that one of the business partners at ME was prosecuted for selling counterfeit Megasquirts before he got involved in ME

I like the yellow sump guard. Are you going to put some drainage/cooling holes in it?

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Yes I think I might need to Duncan am a bit concerned about air flow.
Have stripped back the passengers side headlight/bracket as was not happy with the rattle can paint job and redonr it all in powder coat and done the wiring terminations into the waterproof plug again.
Got rev counter working off the ECU as well.
Rich.

The powder coat gives a very good finish. Would you say even someone who is hopeless at spray painting ( mentioning no names ) should get a good finish? Or is quite tricky?
