Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Had my first drive of a kit car today for about 15 months, sadly not mine but took Dave’s car to Snodhurst as he’s a bit ill at moment.
Once finally home via Halfords for a few more nuggets for the list of jobs to do and a quick sanity check, chucked some fuel in with three correct sparks and one nicked from my small generator I managed to get it to fire into life a couple of times before other half gave me a reminder about the neighbours as I was reving it a bit to keep it going.
Now where did I leave the radiator

nice one Rich, that must be a good bit of motivation; Driving Dave's and then getting yours fired up. Well played

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Spent quite a few hrs over past two days plodding through odds and sods on the car.
Seems to be taking ages to get stuff done, but as said before not a simple engine change.
Jobs done include had to rewire the rev counter to the ECU, run wire from ECU to and fit a new single wire Lamba sensor, got a temp accelerator cable set up stolen from the gravity racer.
Radiator and fan fitted followed by the temp set of hoses, water added and circulating.
Clutch tested.
There was a butt clenching moment when petrol spilt down the rear panel testing out my paint and clear coat.
Seems to have held up ok.
Have to have a rethink on the brake servo and master cylinder set up I love so much as later is tooooo close to the throttle bodies so spent a few hrs googling and speaking to companies and have something on it way that will need remote reservoir sourced seperatly, that means I cannot bleed brakes yet, vice fit arches.
Have few more things I can get done over weekend whilst waiting for the postman.
Planning a major clear out of the garages and workshop over coming week as well.

Leave the clear out until afterwards, you'll have all winter for that

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
May well do Duncan, but I have my old Honda that needs scraping, its made an ideal home to store some of the panels whilst being worked on, trouble is it has no engine and gearbox as they went to snodhurst for their racing, so now the work is coming to an end I am going to use it as a skip and will be able to get car out garage. So will do what I can till it full up.

It sounds like it’s really starting to take shape now. So when’s the grand unveiling?

FWIW: brake master cylinders, I'm using a mondo mk3 which is a lot shorter than a sierra one and feels a lot better too
Yes I've been drinking, what of it!!
