Wow you must be a side kick Rob !
The royal blue, actually a fiat blue will feature on the car, well at least on one rear arch by the look of it.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Done some more buffering and polishing over the weekend as well as more painting.
I Also realised I had managed to get some overspray on the chassis a few weeks ago and could not shift it so had do some on the fly masking and overcoat the 2 pack chassis paint with some satin black from a rattle can.
Then when preparing the spare bonnet tonight noticed I must have clipped the corner so out with the fibreglass again for some re inforcenent on the inside before I tackle the outside crack tomorrow.

Had a go at making a frame to hold the cycle wings so I can buff and polish them whilst bolted in a vice.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
With some items drying in the spray booth I had some time to spare and having stumbled across a missing package last night it was time to secure the fuel tank,
Opening the labelled package reviewed powder coated strips and once some foam padding was added, nuts, bolts, washers sorted and a set of spanner’s it was nice to do something different and also finish off a job for a change.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Various stage of painting continue over past few weeks. I normally give the clear coats a week to fully harden so today it was time for the passengers side panel to get the clear coat flatted back to a dull finish with 1500 wet and dry to remove the obvious orange peel followed by the the same 3M polishing process I used on the rear arch a while ago.
That can be real back breaking work as I decided to do it in the booth sat on a pair of workmates nice and clean area rather than sat on the chassis.
This took a good 3 hrs and once my back had recovered some what I had a go covering the same panel in the clear protective panel protective covering that a few have tried beforehand.
Not exactly easy and this took another two hrs of applying and squeezee work
As it a clear coating unlike wrapping that will not show fingerprints it took some delicate thinking.
Had a go at cutting out the fixing holes in the panel but left the protective coveting on it for now to guard against scrapes.
The finish will not be as good on the panels I plan to cover (side panel and rear arches at moment) as the other panels but at least they should be protected from stone chips.
I did repaint the rear arch do to the damage encured during polishing, so once that has cured I will do that and post some pics as imagine the hair drier will be required for that panel

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Now got the drivers side main anel all polished and coated in the protective plastic coating, Fitted it last night hopefully for the last time, first panel pernantly fitted, pass side not yet fitted.
Need to get on with clear coating the scuttle especially this weekend as once polished will open up more that can be fitted.
