So something so bloody simple is coursing me so much grief. I appreciate that I’m no machanic and most of the work that gets carried out is done by the Snodhurst crew but how hard can it be ?? The last MOT I was advised to get my TRack rod ends changed, so a simple task I thought , I can do that lol.
So now changed, counted the tread turns of and on again, not exactly the same but near as dame it. So why have I got one wheel reasonably straight and the other pointing out slightly ? The o/s is ok the n/s is pointing out wards. Both ends are wound on as far as they can go as well.
I need your help my fellow SKCC colleges please.

Re: Track Rod Ends
Colin do you know if the distance from the start of the thread to the centre of the ball joint were the same length on old and new.
Imagine if the threaded tube was longer or shorter then counting the turns may not work.
Rich.

That sounds likely, had similar with an MG Midget years ago, only I didn't notice 'til I drove it, then I did, bloody scary

Re: Track Rod Ends
You need to get it aligned with a laser kit - there's no way you'll do it by eye or counting threads.
I did mine, thought it looked great but when Matt got his laser kit on it, it was miles out...

@ Richard
@Nelmo
Tony T has a dunlop gauge so I can get quite near with that.
The bottom line is the n/s one is screwed on as far as it will go but it needs to go on further.
Unfortunatly Rich i through the old ones away before fitting the new ones as i couldn't see a problem accruing (famous last words).Colin do you know if the distance from the start of the thread to the centre of the ball joint were the same length on old and new.
@Nelmo
I agree mate but as you may see its that quite far out so i want to get it better than that before I take it anywhere.You need to get it aligned with a laser kit - there's no way you'll do it by eye or counting threads.

Re: Track Rod Ends
Might be worth taking a look on the Tiger Owners Club forum to see what parts people normally fit, agree with Rich, they must be longer. Hope you get it sorted soon. Counting turns should suffice to get you to the garage to get the tracking set, if they are the same length!
