I turned the car around today to start on the other side. Started by taking up the bit of carpet and found the floor brace bar snapped off on one end, so have welded it back on. I have also made up a new bar for the seat to fit to as it was only bolted to the ally floor before. I just need to drill the holes for the bolts now, then hopefully this will stop the floor rivets from snapping which seems to be happening regularly.

Re: Winter project
So I started with a little bit of painting this morning then went onto looking at my throttle cable. I was thinking of putting a rod through the bulkhead with some ball joints on each end then a little linkage to connect up to the cable under the bonnet. The ball joints I got didn’t line up when on the pedal so I made a fork end to go on the pedal which took ages. Then decided that to then add linkage under the bonnet was going to be a faf so modified the fork end so the cable is easier to change ( don’t have to remove the inner like I currently do). I also made a offset piece for where the cable goes through to move it away from the edge which it rubs on fraying the cable so this should help stop it snapping cables.

Good work Matt. It's interesting to see what happens under the skin of other peoples cars we know what to add to the "I must check" list.
Keep going mate you'll be back on the road soon. Chris.

Great work Matt, now this is something we all suffer with , that and clutches so more development and testing helps us all and speeds up the change over that can be a bit of a faff

Yes I could get that which will do the job, but I got given a lathe earlier in the year so I’m playing and learning how to do some stuff on it at the same time

Re: Winter project
So I had another go at a neater one, tried with a bit of square bar I had and was going to turn it down and round it off but struggled to get the bit to cut it nicely and broke one bit so gave up with that.
Then made another out of a bit of round aluminium bar I had and it has come out much better so I am going to go with this one ( it looks better in the flesh than the pic shows it)

Did Lathe work over 30 years ago as an apprentice and was always afraid of breaking tools off but never did.
