the only downside with that idea Steve is that presumably Colin would then need to get the engine checked for mapping ( if it was effectively mapped without a filter) ?
Plus, isn't there from memory a suggested minimum distance from face of trumpets to filter - something like 25/30mm? looking at the pic, doesnt look like there'd be enough room to accomplish that?

Been have a long text conversation with Dick, what you see is a prototype at the mo, just to show people what I was thinking. Dick has said make the filter as big as you can so the space between the end of the trumpets and the filter is as far away as poss. So Mark I think that bares up your theory really

I had this problem with my old crossflow powdered Westfield. I decided I wasn't too worried about power (nothing new there  ) so I fitted ultra short intake tumpets and thin K&N filters and just accepted it wouldn't breath ideally at high revs.

I think in your shoes Colin, I would get a nice big air filter and cut the bonnet. It seems a shame not to have all the power available having gone for it :)

You could be right tbh Duncan, I just want to try something out first before I start hacking at the bonnet but if I have to , I have to

Great thread and write up Colin :)

It's inspired me to get my own 2.0 silvertop project going :D

Maybe I should make a thread of my own, will be interesting to see how the numbers compare

Best of luck with your build and yes put a thread together for us all to see. I'm not much good at putting a thread together so I did it the best way I could.
