Reminds me of an issue I had with my (proper) mini, if you revved the car gently it would be fine, floor it and it would cut out until the revs dropped. Only spotted what was wrong when I got some one else to rev the car. There's a junction box that has a wire that feeds the ignition system. When the engine rocked forwards it pulled the wire which had broken and I saw the spark. Revving gently didn't rock the engine enough to break the contact!

Glad you found it!

I've had that SO many times now, it's beyond a joke. Most recently, I found a loose wire to my TPS which was the cause of my misfire I've had on and off for the last year

Glad yours is sorted :)

Wel done Russ, think of what you have learnt about ohms law and what more you will know about your car now for the future

Well done Russ, something so simple can give you that much grief, ridiculous. Hope the rebuild goes back quickly and you can enjoy the car again.
