Events on Madeira Drive in Brighton under threat!

I drove the London to Brighton a few years ago and it was great to end up at Madeira Drive in Brighton which has a long association with speed trails and other bike and car events as I'm sure you'll all be aware.
I got an email from the L2B organisers to say the following:
"Brighton Council closed Madeira Drive to motorised traffic during the Covid-19 pandemic to allow people to exercise on bicycles and by walking.
There is now a lobby to keep the road closed permanently. This would mean the end of historic events like the National Speed Trials and could signal the end for the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run plus our own London to Brighton runs.
There are three ways that you can help.
1. Sign the petition to keep Madeira Drive open
You do not have to be a resident to sign this petition, you just need to be interested in seeing the road re -open.
2. Join the consultation about the future of Madeira Drive
3. Attend the council meeting on 22nd July which is open to the public if you live near to Brighton.
Click on the links provided below and let's all get involved and protect these events for year's to come!"
If anyone wants the link to the petition see below (takes seconds)

Or the consultation is here (takes a couple of minutes)

Thanks
Chris
