LP pump

Postby nelmo » Wed Oct 07, 2020 7:26 am

I need a new LP pump (I think) and I see that the cheap Chinese one I bought which has lasted 3 years is still less than half the price of a Facet pump.

Does anyone know if the Facet is that much better or am I just paying for the name?

I guess the question is; will a facet pump last 6 yrs +/or do you mind having the hassle of changing a cheapie every 3 yrs.

Had facets on my kits and each last longer than 6 yrs.......

As Mark, go for the facet. Pumps tend to have to work hard, cheapies won’t last and will let you down where and when you least want it. For the sake of a few quid, it’s not worth scrimping on this.

I think it’s worth the extra for a proper facet, I think they’re only £80ish anyway aren’t they?

Cheap Chinese ones tend to fail suddenly and completely which risks a journey home on a flatbed!

Don’t buy Chinese fuses either as they’re also crap!

Just stick to takeaways!!

Yeah but is a Facet just a Chinese pump with a pretty label on it?

Anyone volunteer to buy one of each and take them apart to check? :D

It turns out there is nothing wrong with mine at the moment (I thought maybe it had died but tested it OK).

Replace items that have failed with well known best you can afford items... The peace of mind that your facet will be reliable will out wiegh the 30 quid difference.
