Re: Pedal box and stuff
Nearly there! First up today I spoke to Matt Lewis again. He agreed to let me swap the throttle linkage I bought in error for this.
Next I did a dry run with the pedal box with everthing connected. I adjusted the clutch first to about where I thought it should be, then connected up the master cylinders to the balance bar. All the pedals were nice and level first time
After that I made up some fixed brake lines and fitted them.
After that Hugh came round for a beer and wired up my headlights for me. Cheers mate

Re: Pedal box and stuff
How many times have I said I'm nearly there?! I've been a bit side-tracked by ordering the wrong throttle linkage, going over to Dorking to swap it and then fitting it. Anyway:
Remote master cylinders fitted and fuel regulator re-positioned.
Fuel filter fitted and flexible fuel lines re-routed.
New throttle linkage fitted. This was my least favourite bit so far. The problem is fitting the drop-link to the lotus lever. The instructions and drawings were poorly printed (so you couldn't see the photos) and you have to thread an M5 bolt through the lotus lever and fit a nyloc. This is effectively impossible in-situ and the M5 bolt itself is on a ball joint (so it swivels as you try and tighten). Eventually I gave up on the nut and knocked up something better. Although it looks very nice I think the whole thing is let down by the pushrod connection between the quadrant and the lotus lever on the carbs. I might be able to get another tighten on it tomorrow, but there is some play in it. I can dial this out with the cable adjusters, but to be honest if I didn't need the adjustment in the quadrant to give me more throttle for less pedal travel (which for the love of all that is holy I hope it does!) I wouldn't have bothered. Nothing wrong with a simple cable stop and solderless nipple!

Re: Pedal box and stuff
Another hour fiddling (with the car) and I can't get full throttle with any of the quadrant settings! Just before I ripped the whole lot out in disgust I realised that the reason for this is that the drop link is fouling on the carb balancing screw. This I guess is the reason the drop link is curved, and I may have enough curve left to get round the issue. If not I need to shorten the balancing screw or introduce a bit more curve. Once I've sorted this issue I can see that the ratio of pedal travel to throttle opening is easy to adjust - in fact on the lowest setting on the quadrant I have full throttle at about half pedal travel. The middle setting should be about right.
I have to say that I'm not enjoying this bit at all. That's at least 3 hours on throttle linkage alone

I hated changing my throttle linkage on the DCOE Webers I had. Much easier on the Jenveys

On that basis Jeff, what pedal box and throttle linkage have you got? There is another on here struggling with this at the moment, specifically the pedal travel (OBP pedal box) to throttle opening ratio (Jenvey bodies and linkage).

Top mounted pedals I'm afraid, not the same situation as yours.

Re: Pedal box and stuff
Third time lucky with the throttle linkage I took it all apart again, got a better connection on the lotus lever and bent the drop link a bit more to clear the balance screw.. With that done I fitted the straddle wire kit and connected it all up. The result is almost exactly full throttle with the pedal on the bulkhead It'll need some adjustments the first few times I take it out, but it should be ok I hope.
