MoT Pass - The Fridge is BACK

Postby Fury1630 » Sun Sep 19, 2010 8:44 pm

I know it won't interest most of you but I'm going to tell you anyway, my Rickman ("the Flying Fridge") passed it's MoT on Fri - nothing odd perhaps as it's never failed one in all its 14 years, but this year it's been off the road for six months getting re-wired & a 130bhp Zetec fitted, so to pass at first attempt was nice.

Had a bit of a problem, the engine that had run perfectly on the drive was cutting - backfiring - & emitting a huge cloud of smoke - then carrying on, but only when under load. I think I've traced it to the emissions system. I plumbed the sump breather into the inlet as the good Ford intended, then some time later I found an old breather filter that fitted on the stub on the cam cover. Of course under load that means that air comes in through the breather filter, down through the engine & into the inlet via the sump breather, carrying a load of oil with it. Duh!

Anyway, I think it's all sorted now so as soon as it's taxed I'll be back to a two kit car person :P

I need it in winter - it's my daily driver & the only car I own with a heater.

Get some miles on it Tony and build in some reliability as your club needs you to be the designated 2011 logistics support team for Stoneleigh ! I look forward to officially handing you the baton :)

Only joking. Well done.

Yeah be nice to get it back for stoneleigh. Engine will be mostly put together this week. Then I'm picking up some chassis paint get chassis repainted, engine mounts sorted. Hoping to get bodywork ordered this year before vat goes up.

So is that a commitment then :?:
