Re: Fibre glass
A Buck (old bonnet) is a shape you use to make the mold i think.
You use the mold to make your bonnet.
Chopped is what is used most often is cheap and easy to work.
Woven more expensive stronger harder to work.

Re: Fibre glass
I bought some a GRP kit from www.glasplies.co.uk and found them helpful. In my case I needed to extend my nose cone by 40mm. It was my first time with GRP and was easy to do but I was only adding a strip into the nose cone. I was supplied a thin, smooth, piece of glass mattting and some corse matting plus resin (+ catalyst) and filler. Plenty of it for £35.
I have to say that to make a buck is some going IMHO. Then there is the gel coat to add too (I assume). Personally I would go to a fabricator and ask them if they could make a bonnet in ali - it should be easy for them as they have the rollers, etc, to shape it. I did that for my first Rush when the one supplied was too short.
