I've just experienced that old M12 bolt versus 1/2 inch bush issue. If I'd have stopped to think about it for five mins I'd have realised before I bought a pack of 50 120mm M12 BZP bolts from a local supplier just so I could get the car together tonight. Doh!

been there done that.
Had a place called Capital Supplies in Croydon who hepled out a lot and and got the dies when they could not get the correct thread length.
