Impressive going. That housing looks nice and solid as Duncan said.

Keep up the good work!

Just awaiting two hoses, they were due yesterday!

Did a dry compression test which doesn't look promising but this is with a cold engine which hasn't been started for a while but it don't look good, may have to Follow Steve's route. May as well see what I've got before I get the tools out...

Cyl PSI
1 45
2 20
3 70
4 25

Finger crossed that a: the hoses turn up, b: the pressures at as bad as they look (yeah right) and c: my beer orders turn up tomorrow!!

Started the car up yesterday, a few leaks but no major issues apart from no oil pressure.
Just assumed I'd done my usual trick of connecting it the wrong way round and let the car warm up on idle. I did notice that it sounded a little tapetty but thought it would probably 'clear' with some revs, not that I was raving it.
Today swapped the wires around but still no oil pressure. I used PTFE tape so assumed that it wasn't earthing the case, checked and the case is earthed.
I've tested the gauge and that appears to be working. Tested the resistance access the sender and it states at 170, engine on or off but when I tested each of the terminals resistance to earth the both changed if I increased the revs, which seems to show a pressure difference?

So now I'm stuck, did I manage to not fit something properly, e.g. oil pickup pipe? and I genuinely have no oil pressure or is the sender fecked? Or something else.

At a bit of a loss ATM, trouble is the oil filter and sender are right under the supercharger so changing the sender would be a real faff and not something I'd want to do unless I was fairly positive it had failed.
Any other ways to tell if I have oil pressure bedside rev the nuts off it and wait till something does or doesn't go bang.

In other news I've decided the strip the old engine, just waiting for a manual to turn up as I don't think 'follow my nose' will work :-0

Sorry to here that :(

Hopefully someone who knows the engine better than me can advise a more convenient way to check the oil pressure.

Cheers Duncan, I’ve just bought a remote, there might be enough room in there!

On a positive note the thermostat housing works!!

Yeah, the oil pump needs to be primed with oil so that it can work. I'd be taking the plugs out and turning it over on the starter until you see some oil pressure.

Cheers chaps,

I'll give Steve's suggestion a go first, as there's a little space issue with taking the oil filter off...
