For 13" their VR2 is £65 a corner v's £130 a corner for Toyo R888Rs.

Is retread an issue?

If they are made to British standard they shouldn't be too bad.
But are they to B.S.
Where made.

Would you trust a retread/remold
On a performance car.

Found a discussion on a forum that suggested they're made under contract in Germany using British rubber and are listed by MSA a 1b tyre for competition.

They seem to be getting some traction ('scuse the pun) amongst hillclimbers and I haven't seen a negative review yet (in my limited research). It's a good question though; Why wouldn't you trust a remould... based on what information?

I wouldn't have a problem with a remold especially if they are listed as an approved tyre by the MSA. I ran colway remolds (intermediates) on the Sunbeam for rallying and never had any problems with them.

I wouldn't use a remould tyre on any of my cars, just a personal thing !

I did run Colway remoulds on my Westfield back in the early 90s. They were recommended as the rubber was really soft, and they seemed fine apart from needing quite a lot of balance weights.

Subsequently, I have talked to people who know about these things, and the main concern is how well matched the old tyres are that they use. Once it is covered in new rubber, how do you tell if they used a matched set of say Pirelli tyres. You could be buying four completely differently constructed carcasses made by different companies with different belt types and layouts, so each tyre might have different characteristics under load.

If you add to that the possibility of unnoticed damage from kerbing, and the fact that super grippy trackday tyres are now available new at not unreasonable prices, I wouldn't buy remoulds again.

I ran some retreads on a stock car years ago they gripped really well but pieces of the tread used to come off during the race
With a retread they basically stick a new tread on the tyre, a remould they put a fresh layer of rubber all over the outside of the tyre not just the tread.

Polish company, the tyres are meant to be really good from a competition stand point and they do do new tyres as well as the remoulds.
