Wazzocks

Postby Fury1630 » Fri Mar 02, 2018 2:39 pm

I've just got home from work, it's only two miles but the anti-lock came on every time there I touched the brakes, slowing down to turn into my road took ages which the pedal constantly juddering, yet as I sit here looking out of the window, there's folk driving past at 30+, which is fine as long as you just want to go in a straight line at a constant speed.

There's always a lot of that going on in poor conditions, 90% of the time they get away with it.

Have you seen this clip of a bus in the snow?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-scotland-43239989/near-miss-as-bus-swerves-to-avoid-car-in-edinburgh

Opinion on Pistonheads is divided between:
a, The (female) bus driver has brilliant vehicle control
b, Why the hell was the bus going so fast it had no chance to stop?

Worse are 4x4 drivers, they think it’s a chance to validate their reason for getting one. Forcing their way past and not giving a poop for others. Might be a slight advantage over 2wd, though without mud and snow tyres they are just as at risk as others.

An X5 tried to force their way into my lane as I was overtaking it. “ how dare I in my euro shot box..” I didn’t give an inch and he almost rear ended the car in front of him, tosser.
Power.. small nail, fast hammer, Torque.. small nail, big hammer.. I got a big hammer :P

Talking of knobs i was driving down a little lane near my house wednesday when i looked in my mirror and a idiot in his 316 compace thought he would start trying his colin mcrae skills and started gaining on me whilst sliding the back end from 1 side to another really quick on ice as if my 15-20mph wasnt fast enough.

A car come the other way so i delibritly anchored up and watched idiot boy skid straight into the back of my hi lux and it rsj tow bar. No damage to me but the bmw had punched a hole in his radiator. I got out shouted at him for his driving skills or lack of and went on my merry way. Got home and my brother done a check on his reg turns out bmw had no tax no insurance and no mot.

This. Yet they have to drive round puddles in summer in case it splashes their all terrain, all weather, go anywhere vehicle!

I keep saying in weather like this, 4 wheel drive just gets you into trouble. If a 2WD car won't move, it's a fair bet it won't stop moving if it starts, so maybe you're better off not trying. A 4WD is no better at turning & stopping than a 2WD, so ok = you can get going - but maybe you shouldn't have.

We'd often cruise past 4x4s on low profile tyres in the ski resorts floundering around. This was in our mighty Clio. Admittedly we had chains on the front.

We’ve been using the C30 between us with swmbo doings 30 mile commute to go on night duty. I used it today and went on some really dodgy side roads, impressed how it coped. The weight of the diesel lump and new tyres obviously helping.

The X5 driver wasn’t impressed when I “waved” at him as I passed at 90 parsecs.. :o :D

Yeh I know.. wazzock.

Me i parked the Audi up an and decided that the old discovery 200 series 1 was the tool for the job and its 28 years young , hi low box no frills narrow tyres and it will go anywhere you ask it to. It starts in a split second and never misses a beat . It bangs rattles and rolls just as it should and is uncomfortable as hell to sit in as the seat is a cushion on a frame with a cover over it. But if i had the choice of any 4x4 to use in these conditions it would be this old girl .
