Well hopefully the rest of the gang are still enjoying the show but i took an early bath. After a restless night i was up with the lark and once i was feed and watered and had a read of the regs and proceedures took what i needed from the tow car and left it and the trailer and walked a 5 mins over to our pitch. Car uncovered and started on the button and all warmed up by 7.30 off to sign in the past noise test and then after greeting Russ off to drivers driefing and fitment of wrist band.
Lined up with him, phil and a couple of others for the 9.30 kit car only 15 mins, car died after 7/8 of a lap and will not start, watch the rest of that time slot from the grass got towed off circuit and still wont start probably new dist shagged. Loaded on trailer as my seccond trackday timeslot went out. Saw the rest of the gang and bagged a passenger ride in Pauls fantastic
Ultma, wow that got some tug on it and sticks really well.
The gang were getting like boys in a brothel, bagging additional rides as i left.
I had no real time to check out much of the show but a few of the car kits and classics i did see looked nice and there were a few of the usual kit car parts providers on show. Started to spit as i. Left so hope it did not spoil the session the guys were lining up for.
Had to get going a 12.45 to get home to keep SHMBO. But put me down for next year if it on for a few sessions in a fit car.
Will post some phone pics later.
:D :) Rich

well, I got back at 1655, I left home at 0450 ! not sure why, but was up well early so just thought I would have a poodle up to the brekkie stop (nice place!!)
arrived there about 0705, and gradually the late comer's arrived

After brekkie, another good blat to castle coombe, for more banter
incredibly my 7 managed a sound test of 99.5 at 4.5k so although I was not really kean enough to go out
at least it says my car is not as noisy as I thought it was, and ive got a sticker to say what a good boy I am !!

My home run was going very well, when all of a sudden it got very drafty in the car, oh, my drivers side elbow tonneau has buggered off, and is now somewhere on the M4

But, what I was not expecting was some incredible noises, (at 70mph) emitting from somewhere, that became apparent with the scapping and banging noises, from under my car, so I pulled over onto the hard shoulder, as the noises stopped, still doing about 40, when it was all nice and quite again,

but I did look in the mirror to see a large lump of something on the hard shoulder
A few hundered yards later, was a service are, so I thought , perhaps someone would service my car, and replace what ever has fallen off my car, err no, its not that type of service area

however, while the car was still running, all the t and p's were good, so I had oil, and water, and charging, it doesn't take long to dawn on me, something big, and lumpy, that is redundant when the engine is running, must be the ..................

My bloody starter motor, has gone to find my drivers side tonneau cover how bloody sweet !!
but if they ever do meet again, they don't know were I live so how will the find me again!

apart form that is was 270 ish miles of hard abuse, to be repeated soon, assuming the repatriation with the missing items happens soon

It was a good day

steve

I had a great day out. Good breakfast venue and made me try the first speed humps in our new wheels. It did OK :D

Good to meet the SKCCers and get the banter. Great to have so many out West.

I said, as we have only had the car since Thursday and Brian has not even driven it yet, that I would not take it on track. But Neil double dared me and shamed me into going for a session. Good grief that car is quick :D Well done to my co-pilot for taking the risk with me. Cuffed I was getting to slide a little round quarry and Club. I have not hit full throttle but it is still great.

Good to watch the other guys giving some... :D

Good trip home if a little sweaty.

Not sure where Tony went on the way home?

Will be up for next year :D :D

Great day, as sleep is precious at the moment I decided to give the run a miss and belt down the M4 so had a rather late departure of around 7ish. Arrived to see a Richard there on his own after camping out and then bit by bit the others turned up. Chrunchies new toy stole the show, lovely piece of kit, with the use of a shoe horn and some KY jelly he had handy I managed to get in, the starting sequence is not dis similar to something you will see on James Bond but when it turned over, WOW. I think I some sex wee came out. I did try to convince Paul that I was stuck in it so I would have to use my track time up in his car... didn't work :(

Track time was good, first two sessions there were probably around 10 cars and there was mutual respect so enjoyable for all, third there were more cars which meant more overtaking opportunities. Was the first time on the track sine the engine change and impressed even more, went very well. SOme of the other sessions seemed to be mixed with the d1ckheads which I wouldn't of been comfortable driving with to be honest.

Had a bit of a moment where I ran out of talent with cold tyres and spun out at Quarry but as far as I was concerned everyone else was driving like a fanny if they didn't do the same

Shame Rich had such early problems, he made the most effort in towing the car down there and staying overnight to be struck by the devil,

The event itself I think was great, mixing it up with classics and retro's meant a good turn out, still think the traders could make a bit of an effort but I guess they know their business more than I do, as an example CBS had a fold up table with a catalogue on it. Overall much better than the shambles at Brands last year.

Think we as 'the best kit car club' should try and expand on this next year.

Well what a day! After a crap night's sleep I emerged bleary-eyed to my garage at 5:15am and set off for Castle Combe. The journey there wasn't much fun solo and feeling really tired, it took 3 hours. But once I'd arrived on site I immediately located Rich and the mean green machine, sound check and briefing done in quick succession ich and it soon we were queuing up to get on track.

The 9:30 session was pretty quiet and it was a good opportunity to learn the track at a fairly sedate pace and scrub in the new tyres. Upon arriving back at the parking area the rest of the SKCC crew turned up including Señor Crunchie in his new Ultima who was saying there's no way he was taking it on the track today (to be continued...). The second session at 10:30 had some more cars in and the pace was picking up nicely, started to get a feel for the track but was still taking things easy on the new tyres and I'm still learning how the SR2 in balanced.

That was the end of my pre-booked sessions and on returning the the park up it emerged that some of the "I'm not going on the track" posse had signed up for a session, including Mr Ultima! :o Well i hadn't had enough some us got onto a 12:30 session also for another go. I'm so glad I added this one on as it had a good turnout and as soon as we left the pits on start it was clear that people were up for getting stuck in  Had loads of fun on this round chasing some cars down, lots of overtakes, carrying more speed in the bends etc. Still wasn't pushing things too hard but the pacier feel made everything much more exciting.

I had a great day, liked the mixture of cars about and the track action as well as hooking up with the SKCC folk. To be fair though if I hadn't have gone on track I'd have been a bit miffed as there wasn't masses to look at and the trade area was a little weak. But for me none of that matters because these days are about using your car more than anything so that's fine with me. I'd recommend it.

BTW - The new Nankangs were great. Loads of grip, progressive and great feedback, I felt I could predict them well. Happy with the purchase and would recommend.
